To look at our garden now, you’d think we were living on top of a rubbish tip. Which, if I’m honest, we are, as the garden has become the dumping ground for all of the stones and rubble and wood and tiles etc from the ongoing kitchen renovation. It’s actually too awful to even post a photo of it 😉 However, last year, we did make it look quite pretty – and hopefully, once the rubble mountain has gone and work starts in earnest on the landscaping of the outside, we’ll be all prettied up again…

Inside the house is entirely a different matter. We don’t have the beautiful Flower Lounge on our doorstep anymore – in fact, florists seem to be as rare as hen’s teeth out here. And, I’m not the most green fingered. However, I do love a bit of foliage and so the first step was finding something I wouldn’t easily kill. Succulents seemed to be the order of the day here, and so far are thriving…

But, I know my limitations and know that I could kill even a succulent, so I have decided to supplement the real with the unreal. I’ve long lusted over the delicious images on the Rose & Grey website, and stupidly, never took the opportunity to visit their Altrincham showroom, back in Manchester. But with the internet and all, everything is just a little bit closer these days, and so inspired by their faux plants, decided to get ordering online. Although not the cheapest, and a bit of a faff to get delivered to Istria, I’ve now been able to start to create a gorgeous green corner. And one, which won’t die or stop looking good. As long as I remember to dust them…
